Spadina House is located 5 minutes' walk east of The French Connection.

In 1866, businessman and financier James Austin began construction on a home for himself, his wife and their five children. When he bought the property, the existing house was a summer residence that had stood there since 1836. The house he built has undergone four major building expansions since 1898.

Today, the house is operated year-round by the City of Toronto Culture Division. Exhibits, original materials and demonstrations give visitors a taste of four generations of Austins who have lived there. The six-acre historic garden is home to more than 300 varieties of flowers and vegetables in what has been voted the "best outdoor venue" in Toronto Special Events magazine. The Victorian and Edwardian gardens make a lovely location for photo and film shoots, weddings, corporate events and other special events.--Desina Van
